Today was the day. Of the world famous Crabb Shield chess tournament. Which, I am told on good authority, dates back to the mists of time (though the earliest date I could spy on the Shield itself, was 1928).
We had a good turn out, around 18 players I think. It was a six round tournament, 20 minutes each on the clock, with a 5 second increment. Exciting stuff! This is what we were all playing for, the Crabb Shield itself.
On the day, we had a 3 way tie for first place! Bill Ward presenting the Sheild to our winners, from left to right: Alan McIntosh, Peter Hempson and Aram Ter-Gevorkian.
Thanks to Bill Ward and Mark Allison for organising the event. Thanks to Geoff Brown for organising the pairings. Thanks also to everyone else who showed up and made it fun day!
