Welcome to Woodseats Chess Club.

We’re a friendly club and cater to all levels of play. You’re most welcome to drop by and enjoy a friendly game of chess with us. Please get in touch if you have any questions, or just to let us know you’re coming.

We meet every Monday evening from 7:30pm at The Abbey on Chesterfield Road. Normally we meet in the upstairs function room, unless we have a match on (local chess league), in which case, we have social chess downstairs in the bar area.

If you choose to play in the Sheffield and District Chess League, we have 4 teams to cover all levels of play. There is a charge of £1 per game, which goes towards the running of the club; and you will also need to join the English Chess Federation who run the league.

At the time of writing, a Bronze membership for one year is £18.

YOUNGER PLAYERS

Our minimum age for new members is 13. Anyone aged between 13 and 17, you’re welcome to come along, but would need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
