Nomads B v. Woodseats A. (Sheffield & District Chess League Division 1)

E-mail Print PDF
1. Paul Cumbers  0-1  Allan Potts
2. Andy George 0-1 Paul Fletcher
3. Milan Zpevak  ½-½ John Trafford
4. Mike Newett ½-½ Stuart Jones
5. Stuart Crosthwaite 1-0 Peter Hulse
6. Ken Dewhurst 0-1 Chern Yean Sim
7. Steve Withington 1-0 Bill Ward
8. Keith Davis 1-0 Shane Frith

So a drawn match.  In fact it was a very tense affair. For a change I'm not going to write about games which I didn't really see and make up stuff (which only spies from Nomads will read), except that after the match I heard that there had been a lot of pieces flying about on board 2,  I asked Ken Dewhurst how he felt after his game and he said 'rough' and the games on 3+4 were both hard fought contests.  Well, instead of that, here are some annotations, carried out it must be said with silicon assistance, which seem  to show to see that if we had taken our chances on the lower boards (especially the wretched captain), we would have won hands down!
