After the last match against SASCA A, 6-0 to them ("they were unlucky not to have scrapped a couple of draws was the ratther patronising comment on the SASCA website"), we were determined to do better...and we did. Martyn recorded a very snappy win and left with a big grin on his face. Dave was facing a former BCCA champion and held him for a very long time, but made an unlucky slip towards the end. Dave's taken up Correspondence chess, after a long break so things can only get better. Steve's game was fairly level throughout. Peter played very well to record a win against Dave Grobler's Grunfeld Defence. My game was very wild in appearance to the casual bystander but was theory down to move 16! A lot depended on a game played by Fischer when I was about 14 and my opponent hadn't been born. We agreed a draw after considerable vicissitudes. Stuart was facing a higher graded player (again!) and put up another noble resistance! Nil carburundum illegitimis! The heating was OK this week but maybe we ought to play closer to the radiators!
